Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in another country? A country with thousands of years of traditions. Join us Friday, April 27th from 7:00 to 8:30 pm at the next Culture Café as we learn more about the people of India. Come with us as we experience India. There will be students demonstrating their traditional dances, a PowerPoint presentation on India and you will be able to try some authentic Indian cuisine. In this ever shrinking world, India is closer than you think. This is an open invitation to anyone in the community and admission is free. The event is at the Galena United Methodist Church, 2777 Sunbury Road Galena 43021
Moving with the Spirit 5K Sponsors Needed
Galena UMC is hosting its Third Annual 5K Run on August 18th. Proceeds from last year’s 5K helped support the Wide Open Program at Westerville Estates, purchased toilet paper for Delaware County People in Need, and assisted with Thanksgiving and Christmas meals for people in need. Sponsors giving $50-$99 will be listed on our registration form, website, and be displayed on the date of the race. In addition, sponsors giving $100 or more will also have their names printed on the race t-shirt. If you would like to be a sponsor, please tell one of the 5K committee members. Or, if you think your employer would be a potential sponsor, we are asking that you take a sponsor form from church to give them. The more money raised to defray costs, the higher the profits for missions. Also, for those of you with Facebook accounts, please feel free to post this request for sponsorship. You do not need to live in the BW area to be a sponsor. Thanks from the 5K Race Committee: Bruce & Judy Denton; Virgil Hager; Lisa Moore; David & Melinda Simmons; Tish Porter; & Shirley Young.
Easter Morning Schedule
Easter represents the core of our Christian belief. We celebrate rebirth and new life. It is a time for us as disciples of Christ to come forward and give praise to the God who has given us this new beginning and fresh start in life. It is a time for the church to join together as the gathered community and rejoice. This Easter, we are planning a grand celebration by combing both worship services. This one service will feature music of different styles from many of our talented musicians. We will also welcome new members to the church as well as a baptism. This is one of the oldest traditions in the Christian church, that on this day of new life in Christ, we welcome new people to the Kingdom of God. This in itself infuses the church with new energy knowing that our community is growing. The world is being transformed, we are engaging our community! Christ is risen, Christ is risen indeed!9:30 – Breakfast
Following Breakfast – Kid’s Activities (Easter Egg Hunt)
11:00 – Combined Worship
Holy Week Spiritual Journey
The season of Lent is often thought of as a journey. During this journey, we discover anew how God is at work in our lives. We understand it to be a time of reflection and repentance. We do not deserve Easter, but God’s love for us grants us that gift. This year during worship, we have been focusing on the unique spiritual and theological ideas that make us United Methodist. Those who have gone before us have left treasures for us to discover and learn from. We have looked at Wesley’s Means of Grace, ways that God comes to us where we are. We have looked at ways for us to find our role in God’s Kingdom, and the role grace plays in our lives. The season culminates during Holy Week, as we are reminded of the actions of Jesus during his last week. This year, the Love God Team is sponsoring a Holy Week Spiritual Journey offered on both Holy Thursday and Good Friday, April 5th & 6th, from 7am-8pm. The sanctuary will have “stations” that offer hands on, experiential ways to interact with some of the concepts we have looked at over the last six weeks. These stations have been planned and put together by various groups within our church and offer a wonderful way to approach the celebration of Easter. Simply come during the open hours on either day and go to each station. You can take your time, reflect and engage God working in your life.
Some of the stations (and groups that put them together) include:
-Healthy Living (Exercise Group)
-Prayer – Using P.A.C.T. (Love God Team)
-Love (Kid’s Church)
-Scripture (Bible Studies)
In years past, this has been a very powerful and creative time. We have been led to discover, in new and exciting ways, how God is speaking to each of us in our context. Don’t miss this opportunity to continue on your own journey that leads to new life.

To make this happen, donations of cooked chicken, lots of cookies and help cooking and delivering is still needed. Meal prep will begin at 9:30 at the church. Please contact Karen Debolt for additional information.
Primary Day – Chicken Noodle Dinner
Tuesday, March 6 is Primary Day in Ohio. It’s also Chicken Noodle day at Galena Church. Dine in or carry out some of the best stuff you’ll ever taste.
Start with a pecan roll for breakfast or a snack. Have lunch starting at 11:00 am and feast on soup (cheddar-bacon-potato, chili, ham & bean or vegetarian black bean) with a sandwich (fried bologna, hot chicken, grilled cheese, or hot dog). Come back for dinner from 4-7 pm and have the best homemade chicken noodles you’ll ever taste.
Oh, and neither meal would be complete without a piece of homemade pie or cake.
See you Tuesday!
